“Exploration is curiosity put into action”

Somewhere on the internet I got to know that there is an infamous place near to Bhubaneswar at a distance of around 110 KMs. In a curiosity one day I hit the road and started moving to that place without any preparation.

The place was "Simili Waterfall" (ଶିମିଳି ଝରଣା) a.k.a. Similijhar, situated in Nayagarh district of Odisha. It was a sunny day in rainy season. I was following the location on Google Map. So obviously it was a hilly area and I was curious to be on that place.

Though the roads were good but very narrow. Before Mountain, roads were not good and I found a problem over there. Due to frequent low pressures in Odisha, some districts of Odisha were affected by floods. For that reason I found the road is severely damaged and water is flowing on the road. Actually it was a dirt road. So I made a turn in that narrow road and I met some helpful village people. There I came to know that the original road was somewhere else. I was following an isolated road suggested by Google Map. Anyways I followed those people's instruction and later on Google re-routed it. So that road was in descent condition. And after some off-roading I finally reached at the destination - the beginning of the mountain.

I parked my car there and saw very few small shops, managed by village people. It was slightly raining that time. I explored the mountain, the waterfalls. You can watch the video to experience in detail.

So after sometime I returned from the mountain and started moving towards Kuanria Dam, which is 80 KMs far from Simili Waterfall. By the time I reach there it was almost evening and I managed to see the sereneness of Kuanria Dam. Please watch the full video for details.

The major place I missed was "Kuturi Deer Park". This was near to Kuanria Dam only. But their closing time was 6 PM, so I couldn't visit it. There are near more than 300 deer in the park. It is located inside Mahanadi Wildlife Division Sanctuary and it is nearest to Baramula. This place is a development center for the natural breeding of the deer. All kind of facilities like pond, salt lake, variety natural grass and plants are available for the deer. The park is a beautiful place with full of Fauna and Flora trees. Definitely I will plan some other days to visit this place.

If you love mountain trekking, car driving and natural beauty then this place will definitely attract you. I hope you will find your time to visit this place someday.
